The White Helmets problem...is perhaps what it comes down to - Archived Message

Many thanks for your explanation Alison, and comments Tomski. I think the problem with the Davids - who may not necessarily be quite of one mind on this of course - is that they have never been persuaded to abandon the "of course Assad is guilty of crimes but..." in numbers of arguments over the years. So they will still be too equivocal on the CW issue, saying it's not proven, or simply that it is unknown who was responsible for the attacks. Recent evidence has now proven beyond reasonable doubt that the WH are a criminal organisation created and supported by the UK state, including on the ground in Syria, so we've reached a point where there is no longer a fence you can sit on without being impaled. The Eds have to make a decision to take one side or the other, and if they don't accept our side, VB's side, then they end up supporting the establishment. My only doubt, or question to them would be the extent to which they have dealt with this problem with double-think and rationalisations, rather than following some calculation on not alienating their main audience of other left-wing fence sitters. Do take care Alison, and please report back on latest developments as soon as possible! A great time to go..
