We don't watch or listen to the propaganda boxes but its so easy to imagine the scene you describe; the smug cheeriness of a man who's just completed a jolly good job for his country, who knows that his demeanour gives the lie to all he has said and that it doesn't matter. His confidence is that of the professional confidence man which is why it took (even) you so long to fathom it! |
