The SNP in 2012 overturned their prior policy of opposition to NATO (" subject to an agreement that Scotland will not host nuclear weapons and NATO continues to respect the right of members to only take part in UN sanctioned operations.")...to try get the US onside or at least neutralised for the Independence debate: it failed to do so.
