“Around 27 million people in the UK came to the BBC website to find out about the election results. It was a reminder of the trust people place in the BBC." Ah, so the BBC reporting numbers illustrates trust; righto. “But the fact criticism came from all sides of the political divide shows to me that we were doing our job without fear or favour.” It achieves this by being socially and culturally more to the left (thus right criticism), whilst remaining firmly embedded to the right when it comes to economics and class, the real divider. It's quite a clever trick really.
