Saturday: “Keir Starmer launches his bid to make Labour a winning party again” said Ch4 News, instead of reporting a bid for leadership.
Sunday: KL was also endorsed (for his “professionalism”) by ultra respectable leftist Paul Mason, who used his BBC BH slot to Pity the Prince and to hint that the downing of that plane was deliberate. I thought and hoped that Mason might complain that Clive Lewis was being kept off the ballot.
This might seem surprising. Brexit was a bad idea, IMO, but disrespecting the Referendum was a very bad idea. Mason and Lewis championed that very bad idea. Lewis showed spirit and candour in resigning rather than vote article 50. But Masons good idea of the moment is "professionalism" and he may find Lewis wanting in that.
There are things to be said against Lewis but this is not the moment to say them. Members shd urge their undeclared centrist MPs to lend him a vote in the name of party democracy. Let us see what Monday Brings
Ordinary members want to decide who they think best equipped to defend moderately socialist policies against the MSM/ PLP onslaught. They have been denied a chance to vote for Lavery. They have been denied a chance to vote for Gardiner. They shd not be denied chance to vote for Lewis. The very fact that. the PLP arrivistes so far want him off the ballot should weigh in his favour.
