Also potential security risk and customised higher bills later on? Archived Message

I've avoided having one now for several years. While I can't seem to prove either way if smart meters are an EMF hazard, there do seem to be far too many stories associated with them being unreliable and often giving incorrect readings. On a longer-term basis, once nearly all of us have smart meters, energy companies will be able to fine-tune their billing, analysing precisely what times we are using most electricity (or gas and water) and then have the ability to charge us more for exaclty those peak demand periods. In gathering so much minute-by-minute data, smart meters also present a potential security risk. Just how secure are the servers of our energy providers I wonder. Hackers could retrieve and sell a treasure-trove of information regarding our comings and goings; when houses are empty etc. And the security services could also access this information as another surveilance tool for anyone of interest to them. Now, once you link the above with "smart" appliances constantly phoning home via 5G too...
