Sorry if you've read me on this before but... The most likely explanation for the public execution of Menezes was that it was both the successful culmination of a training exercise and the sending of a powerful (but 'safe') message to the public. Contemporaneous Israeli involvement in training the Met was public knowledge at the time (the killing had Israeli death squad written all over it) and the security services wanted to push the message that we are being kept safe from the Muslims. If you accept, as I do now, that '7/7' was a false flag job it follows that part of the operation would have been the subsequent reassuring of the general public. Also, in particular, in case any nutters got copy-cat ideas, the UK Muslims needed warning. The clever target selection of someone who though he looked as if he could be a Middle Easterner/Muslim actually wasn't enabled the easy nipping in the bud of any actual outrage on the part of Muslims. The clue to the fact that something was being expertly covered up was the touting by the mainstream nedia of the 'the police made a mistake and they don't want to admit it' idea which had the print & broadcast media preening itself on exposing the 'official lie' that Menezes had acted like a guilty would-be terrorist. From the event onwards, before any inquest, any inquiry, no public mention of Jean-Charles de Menezes in any msm outlet was unaccompanied by the tagline "...who was shot by police who mistook him for a terrorist" (or variant thereof). The triumphant dissing of the silly plods was an excellent smokescreen. To this day nobody (except me?) can be in any doubt that Menezes' death was the tragic result of the Mets' understandable zeal to protect us. Bollocks.
