Piers Morgan hits out at 'disgusting’ Hugh Grant Archived Message

"Hugh Grant, 59, who has campaigned for the Labour Party and Liberal Democrats, is no stranger to sharing his political views. In his most recent interview with AP Entertainment, he branded the General Election 2019 result a “catastrophe”. The actor was asked if he is “encouraged” by the result of the recent vote, to which he replied: “No, it’s a catastrophe."

When quizzed further, he replied: “The country is finished.”

The Love Actually star’s comments didn’t go down to well with Piers Morgan, 54, who shared his thoughts on Twitter.

In view of his seven million followers, the Good Morning Britain host shared Hugh’s interview with the caption: “Hugh Grant is so disgusting.

“How dare he say Britain is 'finished'?

“The only thing that's 'finished' is this stuck-up arrogant twerp's credibility as any kind of political expert.”

Piers and Hugh are no strangers to disagreeing with each other’s views.

In the lead up to the General Election, the pair continuously exchanged insults on Twitter over their personal histories.

Piers reacted to Hugh and Steve Coogan’s comments about who they would be voting for in the election.

At the time, the actors had been high-profile advocates of tactical voting in a bid to prevent a Conservative majority.

He wrote on Twitter: “Who gives a flying f*** what Coogan and Grant have to say about this election?

“Honestly, the stupefying pomposity of these clowns trying to thwart democracy is beyond parody.”

The actor hit back at Piers by bringing up reports about an alleged phone hacking scandal during his time as the editor of the Daily Mirror.

Hitting back, the Good Morning Britain host responded: “No journalist who worked for me at the Daily Mirror has ever been charged with or convicted of phone-hacking.”

He went on to reference Hugh’s arrest, which happened back in 1995.

Following the result of the election, the actor was pictured checking his phone with an unimpressed expression as the exit poll results were announced.

He later tweeted: “There goes the neighbourhood.”

During an episode of Good Morning Britain, the father-of-four mocked Hugh’s reaction.

He said: “Actually, there goes his credibility.

“What we’ve discovered, as Hillary Clinton, celebrities can have the opposite effect. Entitled millionaires telling us our vote doesn’t count.

“I watched Steve Coogan on Channel 4 news I think it was on the day before the election and he was so sneering about Brexiteers called them stupid and thick.

“[He] said his character Alan Partridge was basically like them, ignorant blah blah blah off he went on his little rant and I watched and I thought, ‘My god’.”" https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1233557/piers-morgan-twitter-hugh-grant-interview-general-election-result-news
