I thought the Corbyn project was worth a punt, a small window of opportunity now sadly closed. Not unexpected, of course. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. The poor quality of the leadership candidates just points up that Corbyn himself was a one off, with an almost unique backstory on the right side of politics over many years. Unfortunately, at some point in the last couple of years Corbyn ceased being Corbyn, whether due to personal inadequacy in the unaccustomed role of leader or due to the overwhelming - and unprecedented - pressures that he faced or a bit of both. The one good that may come of this is that it reveals - for all to see - the lengths the PTB are willing to go to and the depths they are willing to sink to to stop even a mild opposition to neoliberalism and imperialism. But, as you suggest, this is rapidly descending down the memory hole. The present leadership candidates have got their surrender in early, before being elected. The situation is dire. I can't see myself staying much beyond the summer.
