Here's more reasons why it should be abolished from my post the other day: https://members5.boardhost.com/xxxxx/msg/1583066077.html Also, this article: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2009/09/07/trial-by-fire is one of the defining articles on one of the defining miscarriages of justice and, sadly, wrongful executions, Cameron Willingham. I also recommend the film "Incendiary: The Willingham Case" which is available on Vimeo but you will be shouting at your monitor by the end of it. Another notorious miscarriage and wrongful execution is the case of Carlos DeLuna, covered in very fine detail in the book "The Wrong Carlos". That case beggars belief although when you first hear the explanation of why it wasn't him you can't believe he's serious. Then, once you see the evidence, you can't believe they didn't exonerate him. That's Texas for you mind you. I have tons of recomendations for anyone interested in this subject as it's something I read a lot about. As far as this country, it wouldn't surprise me if the Tories tried to reintroduce it at some point. It sort of comes with the territory when there's a "swing" to the right; before you know they want people to swing in the other sense of the word. Given the amount of "othering" that has been done in this country by the politicians and the media, it wouldn't be surprising to see them want a "limited" form of hanging...you know, just for the turrists (sic).
