AI companies are going massive on radiology because AI is really good at image pattern recognition. Health economists are in favour because radiology will be the first clinical specialist service to be replaced by computer. Because severe viral pneumonia requiring ventilation and CT is relatively rare, if someone is that ill during a pandemic then they will be treated as though they have the disease anyway. A win for AI - not so much for patients or health care staff.
