its the rate of spread that's the concern and the huge increase in mortality if it spreads too quickly and overwhelms Health Service resources resulting in no treatment being available. Exactly. Last night I was listening to a CBC interview the daughter of a man in a nursing home in BC. These are largely P3, neoliberal institutions designed to warehouse the elderly at minimal outlay while stuffing someone's pockets and therefore already pared down to inadequate, inhuman care levels by underpaid, overworked staff. Of course in a pandemic staff get sick, and there is no way to replace them, so care levels drop even further. She said people are crying out for help, and no one comes, meanwhile promises made by management to implement emergency policies to prevent spread within the facility are not kept. So even in Canada where the virus is in its early stages health institutions are already being overwhelmed.
