Really a huge loss for all of us, Truthdig did excellent journalism. Of course that means it exposed the very lies a wealthy publishers' privileges are based on, which means it was always on thin ice, like all dissident journalism that depends on elite funding. I hope the journalists there can find or create another platform. Interesting that one of the writers who published there who mostly toed the establishment line on some of the issues Scheer got in trouble for - Russiagate, The Democratic Party malfeasance, (I would guess Syria would be a third) - namely Amy Goodman, is one of the few who will land on her feet. Since she/Democracy Now sold out a long time ago, she has no concerns about not continuing to draw her comfortable 500K/mo (or whatever it is now) while her laid-off colleagues at Truthdig scrounge for employment during a pandemic.
