Regarding the empty skies and massive drop in carbon-based pollution, I think it's worth being aware that the consequent, inevitable reduction in 'global dimming' is likely to give us a spring that feels like a summer, and a summer that feels like life on Mercury. We were already in line to get record-breaking maximum temperatures this year, and late 2020 was pencilled in for a possible contribution from El Nino in addition. I do not expect the next eight months to be at all good for life on earth. In fact, I don't consider it impossible that COVID-19 is the event that has finally tipped the biosphere into total disaster. M.
