    Rent strike? Archived Message

Got this through from XR London:

    'London Rent Strike

London Rebels are rising up and organising a Rent Strike.

As with the climate crisis, coronavirus is exposing many of the flaws at the heart of this destructive system: most pressingly the injustice and fragility inherent in our economic model. This pandemic is unfolding into an event which will surely reshape human society, and countries around the world are rising to the challenge. Rent strikes are already underway in France, Spain, Canada and the US.

We are reaching out and mobilising with like-minded people in the UK and invite Rebels to support and get involved, sharing your voice, experience and presence. We would also welcome offers of taking on a coordinator role to get #rentstrike up and running. For more information, please get in touch.'

Any others organising something similar across the country? Any news on how evictions are happening, if at all, in the crisis? Rent/mortgage strikes seem like an important tool to be using at the moment to ensure the poor don't get hit the worst (as usual) by the pandemic, and to prevent further consolidation of property wealth by vulture capitalists.

    cheers,
    I
