I don't deny any of that Derek. Walking outside and even guerilla tree planting is possible at the moment - no? Nevertheless, I understand the human contact is a necessary. I've set up an online radio station and people who've been sacked are dj'ing during the day. We have a pub quiz/phone in - not quite yet weekly. As I've said lockdown is a political choice - South Korea have shown it's not required - less so Sweden. New Zealand showed how if done early the disruption could be minimised and brief. We've missed that opportunity but we could be moving out of it with testing. Instead what we will get is another wave and another lockdown. They want a return to the old status quo and fast. We should be talking about something different. The Guardian article I posted about flights says at the end smthg like - of course we will return to flying - there's no alternative for long distance travel. Of course it doesn't say there is an alternative - don't take long distance travel. There will be people who say in response to that - I need long distance travel to make me happy. We as a society - not talking about you - need to adjust to less. |
