nicely put Dan, I'll borrow and share some of that (ex) horse if I may. On a scale of 1-10: How criticised has the govt been for not acting on flights, and not invoking testing and tracing as advised by the WHO from the very start, as the most successful countries have done in their pandemic response? Why are there no pictures of bolted / dead horses or glue bottles on front pages today? Because the media-owning class "are all in it together" for themselves; and for now at least, till a fresh face is deemed necessary, Bozo the clown offers a form of cheery patriotic bullshit that keeps enough people obediently nodding. It's been exactly like the usual war scenario: despite the dodgy beginnings and the ongoing dodgy reports from non-mainstream sources, the thrust of establishment media is 'don't rock the boat, steady as she goes, get behind our heroes', and by default the arsehole lying leader. And so it goes.
