Exactly so. One of the most shameful programming decisions of BBC Four was to turn its Friday nights into a continuous outpouring of old pop music programmes. If you want pop music, fair enough; but its complete ominpresence across our entire broadcasting culture should mostly absolve an 'arts and culture channel' from having to make space for it.
