I think Galloway’s stance is actually a masterstroke: Here we have a man who is head-and-shoulders more charismatic than any other mainstream pro-union politician; he knows that with the SNP representing a plurality but not an absolute majority of votes in Scotland, the unionist parties by themselves have little choice but to rally behind his proposal for an Alliance for Unity, if they want to see the SNP - and therefore the prospect of IndyRef 2.0 - defeated. This is a gilt-edged opportunity for his Workers Party of Britain to show leadership and gain exposure amongst the electorate, and to demonstrate that the socialist path lies in national unity, not national division.
