Agree about indy SAGE, especially about giving test and trace to local authority/local NHS, where it should never have been taken from in 2012 (and to see one of the handmaidens of that (hunt) puffing himself up criticinsg current covid response is sickening). Places where the test and trace is still being done that way (scotland, parts of england/wales i believe) are more on top of it, but it would need to be done everywhere to work properly. And on Jim - yes if you hang with particle physicist lots (though he's more theoretical i think), not surprising you probably like nuclear energy. I mean the science of it is sort of ok (once you imagine into being governments/civlisations you can trust to stay on the case for a million years of clean up (or whatever)) - it's the politics that are the problem with it. It requires a scientist's naivite (not you shyaku) about politics to be that trusting - plus ignorance about the real reasoning behind our (uk) nuclear power programme (under atlee i believe) - ie an excuse to get bombs/plutonium.
