"Puncturing of steel-reinforced roadway without structural damage to the support members which have a small cross-section from above." - Thoughts? -I think Tomsky is professionally of the opinion that with this type of construction the damage is more severe than it looks because the shelling has severed many of the pre-stressed cables within the concrete which enable the load bearing capacity of the horizonal road surface. He has a point. My original poo-pooing of the damage was that as an example of US high tec weaponry being a game-changer the Ukrainians couldn't even damage the more important structural upright supports as you mention: as such the bridge was not a write-off. -In fact I found a video of cars negotiating the pot-holes and still using said bridge post the attack, though I doubt the Russians would risk tanks.
