A lot of different issues are being conflated here Archived Message

The author of this article seems to conflate, quite deliberately, I suspect, a lot of different issues. Many so-called experts in many different fields dislike their expertise being questioned or challenged. They prefer to maintain the illusion that they are always motivated by the public good, never by money, reputation enhancement, public recognition, increased grant funding for their institutions etc. That they are never subject to groupthink - that they are, in fact, never wrong.

Also, the lazy use of the term 'anti-vaxx' - many people are not anti-vaccination at all but are concerned at the roll-out of vaccines still in their trial period where no long term safety data is available.

The tern 'abuse' is not easy to define - obviously, calling someone a f**king moron or threatening to kill them is abusive but I've been accused of 'harassing' someone when politely asking them to reconcile what they claim about vaccines with information coming out in the Pfizer documents.

The doctor's suicide is very sad but it can't be used to stop self-described experts from being questioned and challenged.
