I thank our lucky stars that she was prime minister during Covid instead of that clueless, ideological shower in the Nasty Party. And she was certainly charismatic. And she was verbally sharper than anyone in the Nasty Party; her putdowns of Bill English and Judith Collins were both funny and brutal. However, I will never forgive her for: 1) Choosing to work in Tony Bliar's office AFTER he became a war criminal. Nothing could show more clearly that she was, at core, simply a careerist politician. 2) Refusing, on the grounds it was too expensive, to bring eye-witnesses from Afghanistan to testify against the New Zealand Army during the farcical Burnham Inquiry. 3) Her contemptuous "No" when asked by a journalist if New Zealand would consider granting asylum to Julian Assange. There are many other issues which raise questions about her judgement, but those three are all about her sense, or lack of, morality and compassion.
