That is the precise reason they make strategic withdrawals - not for the optics, that is for sure. So how many have they made? Just two? (The Bucha-era one, and Kherson), both of which were made in view of anticipated losses. The Russian side does fairly complex military math on anticipated losses, as Martyanov has described. Russia absolutely wants to keep losses low, because they manifestly are in this for the long term and anticipating a full-on NATO war. Which they are manifestly confident they can sustain. Remember also the openly acknowledged (by both sides) artillery fire ratio. So the above seems to be quite a lot of credulity that has to be suspended, to believe a number stated in the absence of any reasoning, by a media outlet with an agenda.
