You have a point. The apparent total lack of support actually strengthens Putin. The streetsweeper going about his business around the feet of the coup participants was a comic touch...it reminded me of Breugels "Fall of Icarus" where the great hero drops like a stone into the ocean whist all around him the the anglers continues to fish, the ships sail on, the ploughman and his team of oxen continue to drive their furrow: none paying a blind bit of notice...
