Then he was revealed as, as K264 says in this thread, an establisment lickspittle when he backtracked on "all that socialist stuff" and for a couple of decades became a comedic novellist and did that shitty Queen musical. I noticed a couple of years ago he seemed to reappear on the stand-up side of things as if he was Batman and he'd seen the signal (Saturday Night Live was resurrected briefly and that was the vehicle that made him most famous along with writing "The Young Ones") and a lot of the people that had called him out when he showed his true nature seemed to just welcome him back but of course they are mostly in the media/chatterati. Alexei Sayle was not one of them, "referring to ‘the whole Ben Elton thing of pretending to be left-wing until it suits you to become right wing’." and as usual Lexi is spot on. The manufacturing of consent for Starmer and his liarbour partei is pretty amazing to watch in real time; constant messaging on all media fronts and I think B.E. is part of it.
