Kennedy from the Irish 'Ó Cinnéide'. Cinnéide = 'helmeted head/armoured head'. He's going to need more than a helmet if he's to continue talking about an end to war and dismantling the US Empire. In Ireland, JFK was seen as something of a saint, the good son of immigrants returning home to enchant an entire nation...his portrait hanging up on the wall alongside the Virgin Mary in almost every house in the country after his famous visit. I can understand the allure of presenting him in such a favourable light, especially today when everyone is sick to death of the obvious cretins that rule us. Jimmy Dore posted this reconcilery speech from JFK 60 years ago when he called for genuine peace and an acknowledgement of the sacrifice Russia made in WW2:
RFK Jr echoes his uncle's sentiment and often eulogises his words and those of his father, Bobby. But John and Bobby were far from saints as I was reminded recently when I found out John Pilger was a witness to RFK's assassination by an anti-Zionist Palestinian gunman (although Pilger claims there was another gunman as more shots were fired) and wrote about him here:
Does Pilger downplay the radical (at least in terms of US foreign policy) legacy of the Kennedys or is RFK Jr (and Jimmy Dore, etc) wrong to hype up the image of them as a force for peace battling against the military-industrial complex and the CIA?
