The only drawback...one had to pump the water up to the reservoir during the night etc.
That would be Ffestiniog or Dinorwig. There is also Corpach too in Scotland and a few more by now. Dont know if the pumping element should be classed as a "drawback" as it effectively operates as "battery" storage.
-I see practically unreported in the western media is the massive development of pump storage systems in China including the "...world’s largest pumped-hydro station Located ...in Hebei province, the 3.6GW facility consists of 12 reversible pump generating sets with a capacity of 300MW each and has a power generation capacity from storage of 6.612 billion kWh. -Interestingly it uses wind and solar (i.e. intermittent ) sources to facilitate the storage pumping.
