You put it very well, Dan. I have been a bit reluctant to totally dismiss Dr Campbell - as I indicated he did provide what I thought was a valuable service to the wider community by taking on an "interpretive" role into what was happening in the Covid pandemic, the nature of the disease, of our response, and later on, our immunisations. It would seem Dr Campbel may have passed that point of usefulness now - I haven't actually watched him for many months, so I still have for the most part my earlier opinion of him. But you're right, he should have the skill and knowledge to tone things down, his rhetoric and conclusions.I am not completely dismissing this new "paper", but it will get traction in the wider community among ant-vaxxers (and I am sure that Dr Campbell is not a simple anti-vaxxer at all )- but in regard to the Covid vaccine he seems to be guilty of going down a bit of a rabbit hole and as you say, become too much the politician, ie a man with an agenda. There may behind this the idea that in proving the wider medical establishment wrong, there'll be some glory in that? "I told you so, and you didn't take any notice" - that's quite a strong element in one's psyche, so that any research that might cast a bit of doubt on vaccines is seized upon, and has a strong confirmation bias in his thinking I'm not sure about getting "paid", perhaps you could enlighten me as to how this works?
