The "hierarchies of incompetence" you describe are everywhere Archived Message

I've worked for about a hundred years in both the private and public sectors and, sadly, what I call the hierarchies of incompetence you describe are everywhere and are responsible in no small measure for the mess we're in. I've seen really able, committed and talented people (often men but increasingly women too) who're 'managed out' of organisations for the sins of not being 20, the wrong ethnicity or sexuality. The real reason is usually that an over-promoted no-nothing does not want people who know more than they do reporting to them. The gap left by the mass expulsion is filled by younger no-nothings - some of whom, in fairness, want to do a decent job but there's no-one to train, mentor or support them.

It's been going on for a long time - certainly pre-Woke - but identity politics has provided the jet-fuel. Some of the organisations I worked for no longer exist - run into the ground by the fools in charge. You can't build anything of value without competent people - it horrifies me when I hear of BLM activists labelling competence as a 'white' characteristic and so to be denounced. Have we all gone mad?
