Traditional conservatives probably have a more realistic view of the world and a more realistic view of human nature and are thus perhaps better able to accept a multipolar and multicultural world that allows other societies to develop in their own way and at their own pace.
Ideologues, whether of the left or right, think their way is the only way and can't resist trying to impose 'their way' on the rest of the world however dire the consequences turn out to be.
Having said that, some conservatives and others, who are realists when it comes to geopolitics, seem to lose the plot when it comes to accepting scientific realities such as human-induced climate change.
