Could it? In my experience a true alternative narrative never existed! You'd have better asked Elizabeth for her opinion! I've said it a few times, the Left are poor internationalists! What do I mean by this (seeming), oxymoron? That organisations of international consensus are anathema to the Left..and they always will be whilst a separate agenda exists..(that of world wide "socialisation"). the EU is now an empire, it didn't happen by the Left's design it happened (if you'll excuse), "by default"..in other words (to misquote A.Crowley); "do f**k all and certain results follow!" Not understanding (well enough), that the Wider Europe had to be prevented the Left has stumbled into the Ukraine crisis (along with the rest of us), in an uncomprehending haze of recrimination and/or toadying acquiescence to a NATO-ised European agenda. Deregulation was predictable, it was part of the Right's agenda for mirroring the Left's inability to be internationalists is the Right's inability to do so, however, theirs is not based on socialisation but capitalisation..
