Sometimes one wonders if there was ever a serious real plan...even an interim one to move away from fossil fuels to wind, water, waves, solar.
It all takes resources built on fossil fuels.
Even the cokeing coal that is used to make the steel that is used to make the wind turbine bodies is itself unextractable without the use of diesel, which cannot be supplied without the machinery, the ships, the railways...all themselves made of steel...made with coal. all these resources need cosetted...used with the utmost economy and care if we even have a chance of survival, never mind moving "forward".
Yet pondering the Analinna Baerbock view of the world, and the ease with which the Greens gave up on any interim plan and instead chose to indulge in that most energy wasteful of plans instead: destructive warfare where we cripple all alternative abilities and use massive amounts of the world's resources for absolutely negative outcomes, you wonder whether the plan was ever seriously considered.
We read of the obvious loonies: the bible belt Evangelist vote in the US...pushing the "more money for Israel" line and think them mad for these people are deliberately wanting to fund Israel, as they openly preach, not for peace or harmony but for the quite crazed notion that it will in fact promote the "End of Days" the "Apocalypse"...in which the rest of us will be left doomed and they: those "cheesy chosen" ones, will fly off grinning before the shit hits the fan to the Divine Retirement Home in the Sky...but the Greens appear to hold an equally eschatological belief: that if we do nothing much at all, aside from play wars, the other useless folk will die en-masse by Malthusian means thus solving the fossil fuels problem, leaving of course a world emptied of the great unwashed to the white middle class who will proceed to live in some kind of eco-harmony doing yoga with tech amongst the trees.
-Nothing much to chose between them really. It's worth remaining alive just to spite the bastards: both sets with their equally hideous deluded beliefs.
