That murderous bag of shit Nuttyahoo trying to save his ass by starting a regional war. He's beginning to get desperate as the unrest (aimed at him) at home grows, fairly well unreported in the msm here.

As noted in other commentary posted here, a lot of the "Ohh it's just this faction that are bad" is a useful get of jail card for them and the West to blame a lunatic fringe when in reality it's the vast majority of the state that agree with them.

Even now it's astonishing how this disgusting regime can do whatever it likes and not get any pushback let alone pay actual consequences. As usual substitute Russia for Israel and just imagine the outrage and endless column inches and air time devoted to their latest "outrage against the civilised world".

Pathetic hypocrisy.

There is no overstating just how absolutely insane this is. There is no precedent - NONE - of a state deliberately bombing an embassy. It didn't even happen during WW1, WW2 or even the 19th century. Heck even during the medieval era and Roman empire, the protection of envoys and messengers - even from enemy states - was a recognized norm.

The only other historical instance was NATO bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade in 1999, killing 3 Chinese journalists, but the U.S. profusely apologized, Bill Clinton publicly said it was a mistake (something China still doesn't believe to this day), compensated the families and paid to rebuild the embassy. All this highlighting how profound a taboo this is in international relations.

Israel now doing this - and it obviously isn't a mistake - shows just how rogue and unhinged it has become as a state. It's literally become beyond the pale on a scale that goes back centuries, even millennia.

If the world doesn't forcefully respond to this, it undermines the very core of international relations: the sanctity of diplomacy. And if that's the case, we're literally entering a world we've never known.

Today, at 17:00 local time, Israel bombed the Iranian embassy area in Damascus, Syria. It hit a building next to the embassy which is used for consular services as well as for accommodations for embassy staff.

The target of the attack was General Mohammad Reza Zahedi (Abou Mahdi Zahedi) of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp. He as well as other IRGC personnel were killed.

Zahedi was stationed in Damascus on invitation of the Syrian government. His responsibilities included the IRGC relations with friendly forces in Lebanon as well as Syria.

The attack can be seen as another attempt by the Israeli government to incite a war with Hizbullah on its northern border. The idea behind such a war is to escalate far enough to draw U.S. forces into the fight (and to leave it to them to clean up the mess).

I doubt that the IRGC or its allies will fall for this. Zahedi will be replaced and the resistance against Israel will continue as planned.

Israeli officials in embassies around the world will now be forced to limit their movements in the general public as they are the most likely targets of revenge strikes.

It's a dilemma. Imo Iranians are smart and will come up with a solution. Just my take.

After listening to the experts today, it might be a tad more direct than that. It seems likely that the Iranian proxies might change their mind about laying off attack to US Al Tanf base in Syria (as presumably advised by IRGC), for one. I can only assume some kind of asymmetric move is afoot. Pepe delved into this somewhat on the link I provided below.
