Four hostages are rescued, at least 93 Palestinians killed in the same area, presumably, but not stated, during the same operation.

Four heartwarming pictures of families welcoming home the four named hostages.

Not a single picture of the heartbroken families of those killed, nor a single name.

If each dead Palestinian were to receive the same page space as the four Israelis, then this would take up several whole pages of the Guardian's internet edition. But they were never real people, I suppose.

The total rescued hostages now numbers seven. so that's well over five hundred dead Palestinians for each retrieved hostage. Though of course we could also add that nearly half that number of those rescued were shot dead by the Israelis themselves.

What can you say to give hope / strength to parents of a young family there.

The best I can do is tell her about the protests globally and how the 'news' doesn't express what most / many / some people believe.

It doesn't exist, all you can do is offer condolences and try to do something practical.
