The very same Farage that appeared on Question Time and many other BBC programmes as if he had a permanent seat there? He's done pretty well by the BBC.

The intolerance though is real, because there is on the right a serious rhetorical unpleasantness, to put it mildly, and it's pretty reasonable to be intolerant of that, but the liberal rhetoric needs to be seriously toned down also - you don't "joke" about shooting someone in our present climate.

OTOH, what are the "Liberals" defending, crazy gender ideology and cancel culture, a social division of worrying proportions etc etc. Things are not working and we're falling apart and retreating to our silos on both sides. .

I think this division - right, far right, left, far left - is beginning to lose its relevance. I listen to Judge Napilitano, and find him well worth listening to on some geopolitical issues, and the folk that appear on his whow, but I suspect his environmental concerns are minimal and his social and economic libertarianism is an abandonment of governments' responsibilities to all its citizens, a form of p political Darwinism which is a huge part of our present straits.

There hasn't been anything this despicable since Charlie Brooker bottled it after writing

The Guardian withdrew the article from its website and published and endorsed an apology by Brooker.[15]

My inbox overflowed with blood-curdling death threats, and it was all very unfunny indeed – a bit like recounting a rude joke at a dinner party, only to be told you hadn't recounted a joke at all, but molested the host's children, and suddenly everyone was punching you and you weren't going to get any pudding. I've had better weekends.[16]

I also remember the total outrage when George said he could understand how someone who had lost their entire family in the illegal Iraq invasion might want to see the warmonger Blair dead!
They accused him of justifying and calling for Blair's assasination!

Ah but Aaronovitch would never backtrack...I remember David telling us he would never believe anything again until Jason and the crew of the Argo actually returned with the legendary Golden Fleece of Colchis, or something like that anyway: they must just be on their way home still...
