UK's Ukrainian Never-ending Lovefest...tweet of the day.

"Be in no doubt: Britain stands with Ukraine for as long as it takes."
Nik Stankovic @nikstankovic_ 14h I get the feeling UK simply loves the idea it can still wage a war against a great power like Russia. Of course, it can't, but with Ukraine it's like playing house. Send them some money, weapons and advisors and pretend to be involved in great power politics.
That's what I think this this literal obsession with Ukraine in the UK stems from. They are waving a Ukrainian flag on top of 10 Downing Street alongside the Union flag, and have been since February 2022. Is that normal? Who does that?
Without it, what is the UK today? Not part of the EU, not a big military or economic power anymore. A Denmark without the social benefits.
The commenter is looking in the wrong country for an explanation - a failing of so many Brits, who themselves are infected with an echo of national significance.
The actions of comprador elites cannot be rationalized in terms of the country they rule over. This is the path to eternal cognitive dissonance. The only relevant country is the one they are allegiant to. It is the treachery one does not get shot for, so is populated by worms.
Re: US's Ukrainian Never-ending Lovefest...tweet of the day.
It's more that very British zeal in being a vassal state.
I suppose it's given some kind of cultural ideological cover by the English language and the idea of "our Greece to their Rome..." : that the Brits find a vacarious satisfaction in believing US hegemony is a powerful continuation or extension of their own empirial existence. Of course the US couldn't give a flying fart about the UK's delusions of grandeur: as long as it supinely does what it's told...and it always does.
It's not just the UK, it's the whole European elite, obsessed, apart from Orban that is, with a culturally superior entity, the US, as ring master. The emotional investment is so complete, no reality is allowed to intrude. It's the sunk cost fallacy, not just in monetary or material terms, but in psychological terms.
I have just written a letter to a relative about my feelings in regard to this. related to an interview with Matthew Parris, who is 'Nine to Noon's" go-to UK correspondent.
Dear ........
Some politics. Re Ukraine war, again. As you know basically I blame NATO (especially of course the US neocons) for provoking Russia via Ukraine for years - NATO expansion, US involvement in the Maiden Coup, the continued billions spent on arming and training Ukraine etc. Russia/Putin eventually had enough having warned the West for about twenty years, and when Ukraine threatened to overrun the Donbas with 80,000 troops they invaded. I have written many letters to the media here, and to politicians directly, a few published.
But it never ends, Matthew Parris, Kathryn Ryans “tame” UK correspondent was on the radio yesterday. https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/ninetonoon/audio/2018947330/uk-correspondent-matthew-parris About 3 minutes into the interview he talks about Trump and Johnson, and the need for Trump to continue supporting the Ukraine war. (i.e. aka the USUK proxy war against Russia - undeclared and never put to the electorate - I can’t remember a single discussion or debate about this war in the election, not that it would have helped, Labour/Tories/LibDems and SNP pro Ukraine war, Greens ?) “I like to think our former PM is out there giving what I think is the right advice to likely next president” continues Matthew Parris.
I wrote to Kathryn, it’ll probably go in the spam folder.
Dear Kathryn and Team
Are 500,000 dead and maimed Ukrainians not enough for Matthew Parris or Boris Johnson? (Or you?) Boris Johnson, likely the UK’s worst ever PM, went to Kyev in April 2022 with instructions from the US to Zelensky not to finalise an agreement with Putin and Russia which had been initialled earlier in Istanbul under the auspices of Israel’s former PM, Naftali Bennett, instead to fight on, as a proxy for the US and NATO, to bring down or at least seriously damage Russia and Putin, until the last standing Ukrainian, presumably. Folk who claim this never happened, and Bennett has partially changed his tune about all this, are no more sure of this than anyone else, but the fact is that since the war started Biden has not spoken once to Putin and Zelensky has passed a law preventing any negotiation. Presumably Matthew Parris in his ignorance approves war, war better than jaw, jaw. .
This appalling act of cruel and inhumane sabotage will go down in history as one of this century’s most monstrous events - and even the betrayed Ukrainians in their misery will eventually realise this. This continuing war macerates thousand of Ukrainians ever day, and bring the total ruination of the country ever closer. In addition it is draining down the whole of Europe into an economic doom spiral and isolating the West from the rest of the world. Matthew Parris’s enthusiasm for all this horror is appalling and unforgivable, but in that he’s totally in synch with a European leadership of cruel fools, including Parris’s own new PM, Starmer. The only sane leader in Europe presently is Viktor Orban, and he is being treated in an infantile fashion as a pariah in Europe.
Complete collapse of NATO (much to be wished for by the sane) is possible, but so too is deep European economic misery and nuclear warfare - not quite so welcome.
Cheers
There is another sane European leader, a leftie - Slovakia's Robert Fico (nm)
