You have to read to near the end of the article, about 750 words, to be informed that the Maccabi supporters had been themselves seriously acting up, shouting anti-Palestinian threats, burning a Palestinian flag and behaving in a racist and bothersome fashion like any other normal touring football fans, along with ignoring a minute's silence for the victims of the Spanish floods.
What I understand is that this was an Israeli soccer team, it was described as such repeatedly, and it was Israelis that were involved in fights and violence. Were they Jews? Probably. But, was it a "Jewish soccer team"?, No, it wasn't. But that is actually irrelevant, and again, this dangerous and deliberate and cynical conflation of Israeli citizenship with Jewishness, the conflation of righteous anger against Israeli people and their government, and their own deep and pathological and fascistic racism, with anti-Semitism. Israel, the country, the people, sadly have brought the meaning of anti-Semitism to a hypocrisy, .
I abhor the sort of violence that we see here, but if I had my way, no Israeli sports team or sporting representative would be allowed to compete in any country that I had some say in. . And there'd be no violence or contention to worry about.
They went looking for it, got it and then had to have a special evacuation laid on as they cried persecution. Funny how it's always them....The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.
Even the Israeli embassy didn't actually claim anti-Semitism....
Quote from the article - The Israeli embassy in The Hague said mobs had chanted anti-Israel slogans and shared videos of their violence on social media, “kicking, beating, even running over Israeli citizens”.
Re: Even the Israeli embassy didn't actually claim anti-Semitism....
-It's useful racism. there's a shitload of Dutch politicians and establishment figures willing to ride the same anti Muslim bandwagon that put Geert Wilders into power.
Re: Even the Israeli embassy didn't actually claim anti-Semitism....
As usual being vile thugs and then playing the victim while shielded by almost the entire European media. UEFA has announced they are moving their next Europa league match against Beşiktaş from Istanbul to a 'nuetral' venue for 'security reasons'...protecting the fascists when they should've kicked them out of football long ago.
Did I get this right, that they were playing in the “Europa cup”? Please excuse my ignorance on this.
If so, wtf is that all about? I thought Israel was in west asia.

Yes, the Israeli national team play in the European qualifiers for the European championship and World Cup and their club teams play in European competitions ever since they got kicked out of the Asian federation decades ago. Of course Europe welcomed them with open arms as they do for the Eurovision, making a mockery of every principle they claim to stand for.
It seemed like just any regular Saturday night where I come from…nm
