..due to a lot of interviews with Galloway over the past years I had him down as one of the good guys.
I was wrong and should have done a bit more research on him.

He's definitely changed and wasn't always coming off this way; although he may have always believed these things, he certainly kept it to himself more up until the end of last year, round about the end of Biden, the coming of donny scumbag 2.0 which is probably relevant.

I started calling him out on it somewhere around October or November last year and it's only accelerated since then. His ego is also taking a bruising and it's affecting him a lot I think.

Also, somewhat in his defence, there is the seizure of his passport and whatever other Gestapo shit they pulled. We don't really know what went on and it's effect on SR.

Listen to people speaking inside their area of expertise. He has expertise in the relatively narrow area of arms control with Russians and in the middle east. The current obsession with whether to like him or agree with him or various aspects of ideological purity or whether everything he says on every subject stands up to scrutiny or should be listened to uncritically is a bit baffling abut a bit typical.

Like, is the fear we are all going to become pro-war if GG doesn’t “hardtalk” Ritter? Are we really so fragile?

Its a nice spring day in London, lets treasure it while it lasts.

Tend to agree, Shyaku. Clearly Ritter is still a valuable voice for his expertise and insider knowledge, and his advocacy for peace & diplomacy between the US and Russia has probably done all of us a favour. Expecting him to be a champion of all leftist causes is a recipe for disappointment. Really, expecting anyone to be a champion in this way is an abdication of responsibility, hoping that they will do all the hard work so that you don't have to. Of course, I have never been guilty of doing this myself... ;P

It's his boasting about killing people and his role in targeted killings that harshed my mellow.

No doubting his expertise and insider knowledge, just puzzled why he seems ok with doing the evil empires bidding because "it's war".

For some reason, Clarice Starling comes to mind...just changed "Doctor" for "Scott":

"You see a lot, Scott. But are you strong enough to point that high-powered perception at yourself? What about it? Why don't you - why don't you look at yourself and write down what you see? Or maybe you're afraid to."

As people said above in the thread I've considered Ritter to have been a valuable voice for nuke disarmament and critic of Israel and Ukr proxy war. However, and apart from his gaga MAGA episode, I was appalled that he was directly involved in targeting that bomb shelter in Bagdad, way back, which I consider to be a war crime .. I don't care what he says ..

I was also appalled by the bomb shelter comment. The bomb shelter in question was Amariyah. He described it as the “Odomia bomb shelter”, and it came up as such in the closed caption. Probably he meant Amariyah, but whatever it was, it sounds bad.
