Sodexo Prison Services faced formal accusations of mistreating hunger-striking prisoners affiliated with Palestine Action at HMP Bronzefield.
The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre has invited Sodexo to respond to several serious claims regarding the treatment of hunger strikers, including:
At HMP Bronzefield, Amu Gib's food refusal was reportedly not logged for nine days, delaying required medical treatment. In another instance, a striker experiencing chest pains and shaking limbs was allegedly ignored by a nurse and told to wait for the next shift.
Prison staff at Bronzefield reportedly refused to call an ambulance for Qesser Zuhrah for 17 hours despite severe symptoms; medical care was only provided after a 17-hour standoff involving protesters outside the prison.
Strikers were allegedly held incommunicado while in the hospital, preventing contact with legal counsel or family.
Supporters alleged the use of "non-association orders" to isolate strikers and "physical violence by guards" when prisoners tried to comfort one another.
Activists claimed they were called "terrorists" by staff and had religious items, such as keffiyehs used as hijabs, forcibly removed.

I have an old acquaintance from the pub 30+ years ago who I was chatty with but he wasn't one of our close crew. He was renowned as being a hard fucker but not keen on scrapping as he'd killed someone in a fight when he was younger; he punched him, he went down and hit his head on the kerb and died). I don't think he ever did any time for it as he was a juvenile; nobody ever asked him about it in detail (I did once when I was rat-arsed but don't remember the details )
He's now a screw at a relatively local prison with a pretty bad reputation. He was very intelligent and that incident had clearly straightened him right up but still, you would think it would be disqualifying from something like that. I actually think he'd be really good at it but still, the interview must have been interesting, "I see here you like Northern Soul music, oh and you once killed someone. Tell me more about that...".
A lot of screws are wash-outs or never got-ins from the bill that's for sure.The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.
