WSAC has a trophy for the most meritorious scale fish caught in Wgtn Harbour. Similar concept to what you're talking about. Wgtn harbour doesn't produce big numbers of points for leading competitors but it produces some excellent fish for those who put in a bit of effort but don't want to travel far. Winner is decided based on Masters points system I think. The winning fish each year is always right up there in the quality stakes and the trophy is rightly sought after.
