Hi John, I also got surprise visit from SEPA[scottish enviroment protection agency], my oil went to another garage to be burnt in there heater,{not allowed},oil filters went with scrap metal and old batteries, old guy picked them up every week and cashed them in,{not allowed} Cardboard and paper I took to local council waste centre about once a month,{not allowed} they are not licensed to take trade waste. Received letter back from them with items i had to sort out. Was told I would have another surprise inspection within six months, if they found anything next visit, a report would be sent to procurator fiscal. I have had to sign up with a company called the Oss Group. Standard contract for one uplift every quarter, on four items, Waste oil, waste coolant, waste oil and fuel filters, and waste oil absorbing granuals costs around £600 + vat a year. Batteries go in the boot of customers cars for them to dispose of as it is £150 + vat for acid proof container to store them in and around another £150 + vat to get them added to my waste contract. I have to buy orange TRADE plastic bags from the council at £1.00 each for the cardboard and paper and council lifts these from front of garage. Old guy that took my scrap had to register as waste carrier in order to pick up my scrap metal. Now every piece of waste that leaves my building , I have to get a waste transfer note. I also have to keep a copy of all the waste carriers licenses. I pass the costs on to the customer. Waste oil £3.00, waste oil filter £1.00, waste fuel filter £1.00, waste coolant £2.00. All + vat. So far I haven't had any complaints as I explain why these charges are made. Gordon
