Somebody (maybe Cleese?) once said that the aspiration of the British middle classes is to reach the grave having never been embarrassed. In other words, they are completely non-functional as an entity, merely comfortable.
I hope Jeremy does not share such an aspiration (?)
At some point there should be a desire to cash it in, and all investment involves some degree of risk - and risk can be hedged against if necessary, but can never be avoided entirely.
