I pointed out that "Lexit" didn't actually exist. There was no determined aim, no policies, no campaign: indeed no political vehicle either to carry this "nothing" forth
At one point, when I was in the Labour Party, oh so long ago, we had a lively discussion about the need to exit EU. We wanted to nationalise the railways and other privatised assets and the EU laws were preventing this. That was one single instance where this was discussed and it was lobbied as an issue. And historically, the left of the LP has always been against the EU project, example being Tony Benn and others. Also during that later period, came the Greek financial crises and Varoufakis reported on the shadowy wing of unelected officials essentially telling the Greeks it was their way or the highway. It just illustrates my reasoning for wanting to leave the EU. At the time this was all discussed on TLN. So, I am not coming up something I dreamed up.
As you well know, Corbyn cracked under pressure from the right-wingers in LP and that was the reason why it never came up as a concrete policy. And that is why LP didn't get into power.
"I fully agree that the current state of affairs, like, for example, .. profit on the back of toxic deregulation is indeed the result of the Tory Brexit, if that helps. But that is now."
-Then why claim to disagree as above?
I am astonished that I have to explain, but I will. It's simple, because I am on the left.
