FCS was 63 scholarships, and I believe the rules apply to them as well. Basically everyone will be able to 105.
Going forward, there will simply be a roster limit, and basically that becomes the defacto scholarship limit. The entire list of the updated roster limits can be found below, but here are some of the highlights of the new roster limits model pending approval by the court:
Football currently at 85 “full-ride” scholarships are available, roster limits will increase to 105. Partial scholarships will be an option to provide athletes.
Baseball currently at 11.7 scholarships can be divided among its players, will now have a roster limit of 34.
Softball currently at 12 scholarships can be divided among its players, will now have a roster limit of 25
Men’s basketball will add two more roster spots, increasing the number of potential scholarships from 13 to 15. They will also make the transition to allowing partial scholarships.
Women’s basketball already had 15 available scholarships, which will remain the same as the total roster limit, and will also provide the option to offer partial scholarships.
Some sports like mens track could theoretically add 35.4 scholarships if they can afford it. Going to be a free for all in baseball and other mens sports that up to this point could not give money to every athlete, at least out of the athletic budget. We are very much going to be second fiddle to FBS now. Again, guys will be look for more playing time and transfer our way, but financially those that can afford to spend more, will be able to spend more, and hoard talent.
The scholarship limit for football at the FCS level (where Davis plays) is 85, starting next year FBS (which includes the MWC) is moving to like 130. Also, if they want to get close to that they’d have to match in women’s scholarships for Title 9, so you’re talking about 60-90 extra rides to support. I’m not sure they wouldn’t have to physically add more women’s sports (and related expense) to make that work. I believe their stadium for football is pretty significantly short of the minimum capacity they require for FCS right now. I’m sure moving up in FB might be an aspiration, but it’s going to be crazy expensive.
Also, didn’t their students bring legal action against the school a couple of years ago over using funds from a fee they voted on that was supposed to be used across the student body but mostly went to athletics?
That's a head scratcher. When I first saw the post I thought football would be the driver behind joining the MWC. So, M/W basketball, WVB, MBB, W softball, water polo will travel to Laramie, Albuquerque, Colorado Springs in lieu of an all California conference? Other than MBB, I think the BWC is stronger than the MWC.
Davis has football. I wonder why they won't join the MW for football??

@RossDellenger
The Mountain West is finalizing an expansion deal to add UC Davis to the conference, sources tell
@YahooSports
. The deal would be for all sports except football.
