Even for me (mid thirties) college sports is night and day from when I was first a fan a close to 30 years ago. There just seems to be no hope. I mean back when I first started paying attention a school like Fresno could play a significant role in the minor sports (ie Fresno's softball had a run for a bit) and just hope for a magical season every now and then in the major sports. Now it seems like all the major sports and the 2nd tier sports are basically out of reach for those without money. The 3rd tier (ie Men's volleyball) still seems to give the little guy a chance BUT it only takes a few rich schools to get serious about men's volleyball and that could be over also.

I just want the top 40 or so schools to break off.

Leave the rest of us behind and hopefully get something as close to college sports as we can get.

Don't get me wrong the players should get paid. Especially players that have no shot at the pro's. BUT this free agency ever year just means 90% of you players that are any good will leave. It was hard enough to convivence people to stay in the past when they had to sit out a year and they we not giving up actual money by staying at the smaller school. Now it is basically impossible to keep them (and again I don't blame the players for taking the money as most have no shot at the pros).
