I remember the Andy Fee chats but that was the former guy and not the one in charge these days.

You must have missed the "AD Chats" with Andy Fee at Joe Jost's when Andy was the AD. He would tell us what was going on and would then answer questions from the audience for 30 minutes to an hour!

Been a booster/season ticket holder for over 35+ years as cannot recall the last message from the AD on anything. Only thing I receive both in snail mail and email is asking for money.
Start of the year email perhaps or beginning of the athletic season for a message but nothing from the AD.
The one that is on X that often has information is the BW commish as he often has messages out on what is going on. Better in communicating than what is going on in our own dept.

I/we do receive emails from Bobby. For the. Most part, they seem to be solicitations for funds. I did receive a for letter thank you the other day for a year end contribution.
What I’d like to see is whether from Bobby or others, information of substance informing we stakeholders of what is happening with 49er athletics. What meaningful objectives have been set. To me,there is not much substance in communication.

Can anybody remember when the AD sent out a message on anything? Nothing much since Bobby took over. Terrible way to have little to no communication to those that support the department the most.
Other athletic departments have their AD's sending out messages but it seems our department uses just social media and a random email about events as that is it.

What’s missing is an effort by the administration in a timely and honest communication as to the state of the Pyramid, a strategic plan for athletics in this trying time of revenue sharing, opportunities to have meet and greets with athletics administration that will nurture relationships, buy in and increased donations from us….the stakeholders. I find this extremely lacking. There are individual teams and programs that engage in some this but I find sorely lacking from the administration.

Wow, losts of good suggestions on this item. IMO the athletic administration has probably explored as many options as possible to correct the problem of the leaking Myd. They, probably more than anyone else, wants a non leaking facility. Do you think they are not nervous about rain on the UCLA/Long Beach volleyball game or future events? I am sure that if something were in their means it would be done. The burden will fall on the next President of the University. Also, IMO, there are not other options when rain hits the day of an event than moving it to the old gym. Pray for no rain on game days!!!!

The Goldmine was remodeled in mid 1980s, and the chairbacks are cracked with sharp edges. It is not an acceptable Div 1 court.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gold Mine is a 1,900-seat multi-purpose arena in Long Beach, California on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. Opened in the late 1950s, it was known as University Gym. The Gold Mine was home to Long Beach State's basketball and volleyball teams until the Walter Pyramid opened in 1994. It used to have nearly 2400 wooden bleacher seats before a mid-80s renovation.[1][2]
The Gold Mine is still occasionally used for volleyball and basketball games, if there is a scheduling conflict at the Pyramid. Today, its primary function is for Long Beach State intramural sports and other campus events.

The CSULB recently retired President Jane failed with respect to all that is being discussed here. Also look at how she mishandled the mascot issue.
She kept deferring problems with the Pyramid to the future.
In many cases she let her favored student focus groups, chosen by her, make decisions.
She also made the decisions regarding the Student Union remodel. Another messy situation.
We currently have an interim President. Nothing will happen until we get a new President.
The bottom line is that the money is not there to fix the Pyramid anytime soon.
In addition the City of Long Beach does m not have revenue to repair or upgrade the Long Beach Arena.
We are stuck with the Goldmine.
