Reality is that this pay to play era creates a larger gap between anyone who can find people to pay and those that do not have those people, with resources having to be allocated accordingly. Under King, the President's office covered quite a bit of the increased spending, but he wouldn't have covered this new revenue spend number. It takes big vision and buy in from supporters.

Let's hope the new LB President will get us on a better track to the success in sports we hope for. I wonder if the new President will want to choose a new AD, and a new AD might bring in new coaches.

I think all of your sentiments are common to nearly of all the posters on this board, including our questioning of our own motives. Nice, clear expression on your part.
The Clowney error allowed us to fall far behind while everyone else moved past us, but, to be reasonable, we don't have the budget to compete and there was no prioritization of athletics donors/boosters. Instead, her statements and sentiments ran many long time, existing donors off and acted like kryptonite for many of those considering entry.

Wishful thinking. They are as bad as a commuter school as lbsu. So sad to see others that were looked at below lbsu programs leap over us. Maybe I’m just hating on how others are swinging for the fence and we are still warming up.

The only way a low-level mid-major will rise to be with the P4s is to get a huge set of donors who can put up tens of millions every year. I think Sac State wants to be like San Diego State north. Can they pull it off???

First was the on campus push with Populous name drop, then Sac Republic got their act together and got shovels in ground downtown with Casino backing, so on campus withered. Then Cal Expo was next with horse stadium retrofit and talk of other minor teams like Rugby or Pro Lacrosse. Now they are talking of splitting at the new stadium downtown with Sac republic, but nothing official.
Wood, their President, will move on before this collapses or succeeds. They have some NIL, but not the war chest they claimed. He has a good story, but really hasn’t done much but push DEI programs (eliminate whiteness, his quote) and take a shot at pushing athletics. His brother is also behind the scenes with basically no experience setting up corporations to milk these efforts, or other development deals involving the state down the road in Rancho Cordova.
