they CAN receive Cost of Attendance money; cash for expenses. A
There is an NCAA formula based on expenses and living expenses in university areas. I do not know the max allowed at LBSU now, but it was above $3,200 per athlete a few seasons ago.
However, at least one former athlete has said that was eliminated by the Slitheran regime in the last 18 months apparently.
So, in summary, there is still money potentially in play. Just not mega NIL money.

As an international student on a visa, Logan King cannot be paid NIL money.
Also, under the House settlement, there is simply not a lot of NIL money available for sports outside of Football and MBB. The revenue sharing cap (which includes affiliated collectives) is drastically limiting institutional NIL even for popular sports like WVB. Some major conferences are allocating as little as $100K for wvb NIL, which is obviously not much at all.
Since we don't have football, we should theoretically be able to provide much larger NIL for volleyball, but we don't have much NIL available at all, and all of it is going to go to MBB if we get any.
Smitheran is leading us into a race to the bottom.

Logan King our fantastic freshman hitter for WVB is in the portal! Get used to it supporters just like Gavin Sykes any LBSU player who has a great season will be gone the next year. With Gavin it was understandable because of NIL money. I'm sure at TCU he's making probably minimally a million or close to it. Obviously for King it was a better program in that very little NIL is offered to WVB. I hear UCLA is in the running for her services. Great program almost yearly, great academic university, Westwood, etc. We will continue to lose almost anyone for a better situation monetarily or a better program to go to. Plain and simple! The only thnig that would change that would be a coach. At present we have NO coach like Tark, Joan Bonvicini or Dave Snow who built programs based on them and the desire to play for them. College athletics no longer works that way and we will continue to lose ANY great player! Very sad!
