Before I was on board with a higher excellence fee that included athletics, but that was to raise the overall program, not put cash in athletes pockets.
That being said, I agree the on court product has not been great, and the failing of Monson with late game failures and poor offensive production, seem to also be Acker's failings.
Maybe athletes see that transferring is not in your overall best interest. I doubt playing at Niagara or NDSU is the bump they were looking for.

Towards the end of his career CDM was a below average coach in my opinion but the current coach has been terrible. I would have never thought LBSU would be a bottom of the bottom dweller in conference.
When the new coach came aboard the same day I bought season tickets again. At the end of his first season I made the decision not to repurchase my seats. I saw nothing that gave me hope he could build the program up and so far I have been right.

We didn't finish last place or 10th place with CDM. Far better coach than Aker.

Good observation Sparky about Diaz.
Btw, Cdm wasn't good at seeing what players made the team better when they were on the floor. So frustrating. We lost 2 big games when he pulled hot players off the floor.

I have not been very happy with the results in the first two seasons under Acker, but I have been at least willing to hold open the possibility that budget, or lack thereof, might be a key cause. But, I would say Diaz' use is a place where I think Acker blew it. Overall, what I saw was that we were better when he was on the floor, and that he didn't get on the floor nearly as often as I thought he should have. I don't blame him for leaving at all, but I wish him well.

I too liked Rob, and wish him the best. Like was stated above, I hope that he is ready for those cold (really cold) winters at NDSU. I also hope that he gets the playing minutes that he is looking for!

I wish he had stayed, but he didn't look happy how he was utilized, and we ended up replacing him with some quality guards anyway. I wish him the best and yeah, the winter is going to be brutal in North Dakota!

I hoped he would stay. My sense is Acker ran him off by the way he treated him. He deserved way more minutes if all you consider is his production. Of course I have no idea what else might have been going on, but I liked him a lot.

Rob always played hard at LB. I thought he should have been a starter in most games.
